Borough business owner offers advice on council
To the editor:
My name is Mel Smith. As a business owner of several downtown Lewistown businesses, I would like to encourage everyone to vote on Nov. 5.
After attending every Lewistown Borough meeting for the last year, I have a good perspective on the inner workings of our borough council. Our borough needs people that want what’s best for the town. That means trying to get the highest quality and the most bang for your buck, when it comes to tax payer’s money. Also, to help residents and businesses with issues they may have. Lastly, to encourage and help businesses to be successful, because we all know that businesses are the backbone of our town. That being said, I want to encourage everyone in the borough to vote for the following candidates: Please write in the names Justin Trego and Greg O’Donnell and vote for Mark Lawson, Matt Moore and Russ Rager.
In response to Connie Lucas’ letter, that the council should consist of people that can put aside their own personal interests, I whole heartedly agree. This is why I will not encourage anyone to vote for Larry Searer. In my opinion, Larry Searer is not serving the best interest of our community. Come to the borough meetings and you will soon see what I am talking about.
In closing, I encourage everyone to vote and attend borough meetings. Knowledge is power.
