Backs Berrier for office of borough tax collector

To the editor:

I am writing to overwhelmingly support Frank Berrier, Republican candidate for Lewistown Borough Tax Collector. Frank has been a long time asset assisting local taxpayers as an accountant and tax advisor.

I served with Frank on Lewistown Borough Council, and I know that he understands the importance to the borough of accurate collection and prompt remittance of the four million in tax billings.

Frank is a lifelong resident of Lewistown Borough and has been a property owner paying local taxes for 35 years. He earned a BS degree and an MBA degree from Philadelphia University.

Perhaps Frank’s greatest asset is his desire to do the best job possible, just as Nancy Held did for years. He recently attended the Tax Collector Training Program in Johnstown, in order to fully understand the record keeping and reporting requirements of the tax collector’s job. This training enabled Frank to be certified as a qualified municipal tax collector by the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.

Frank has also promised to keep the tax collector’s office in Borough Hall with expanded hours for taxpayer convenience.

I could continue to list Frank’s professional abilities. Instead, I simply ask that you vote for the best possible person for the tax collector job, Frank Berrier.
