CTC movie night again a hit with community help
To the editor:
Our fourth annual Community Movie Night was a success on June 14. There were 165 people who enjoyed the cool evening under the stars, participated in the family-fun activities and watched the movie “Brave.”
Without our donors and community partners, we could not offer this free event to the public. Thanks to our partners, GME Entertainment, who provided the technology to show the movie outdoors, and the Hartman Center in Milroy, who allowed us to use their wonderful retreat center and for the assistance of their 15 staff who led children games before the movie began.
A sincere thank-you goes to our donors: Will Smith of Smitty’s Sports Bar and Grill / Best Western; American Legion Post 289; First Quality; and Lewistown Hospital.
Thank you go to: Asher’s Chocolates for donating chocolate squares for the s’mores; East Derry Township Volunteer Fire Department for providing lighting when the movie was over; McDonald’s who provided us with a cooler and orange drink; and Brannon & Royer for the port-a-potty. Thanks to Allensville Planing Mill Home
Center (True Value) who donated the popcorn popper.
Thanks to AKA Photobooth who was new to our event this year for providing free photos to many families and individuals.
More thanks go to community groups who provided fun activities for children: The Girl Scouts in the Heart of PA, Clear Concepts Counseling, Central PA Life Ministries, the Knights of the 21st Century, and the Faith Based Initiatives of MC CTC. And we could not run the event if we did not have the help of Mifflin County Probation Department.
A very fun time was had by all. Many hands make for light work. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
