Many gave so ‘Kids’ Sake’ event could be successful
To the editor:
Once again we, the employees of Mifflin County Children and Youth, participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids’ Sake fundraising event in March. The funds raised last year during this event helped to serve youth in the Juniata Valley area, contributing to the following statistics for kids matched in the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ program:
58 percent demonstrated increases in academic performance, attitude toward school, and avoidance of delinquency;
67 percent showed improved relationships with adults, peers, and family;
50 percent reported increased self-confidence and improved decision making;
Thanks to various fundraising efforts, our six bowling teams were able to raise $3,363.23 to donate. At this time we’d like to thank the following businesses and private citizens for their contributions to our fundraising efforts.
