Bicyclists enjoy cruise around Juniata County

To the editor:

Recently, I was among a group of 20 bicyclists who thoroughly enjoyed an excellent three-day weekend of riding in and around Juniata County. Starting near Cocolamus, we pedaled a total of about 160 miles, ranging east to the Susquehanna River and west to Academia.

Most of us live in more urbanized areas, mainly in eastern Pennsylvania, so the peace and tranquility of your countryside was very relaxing. What a beautiful part of the world. Several of us remarked at how polite the motorists were – without exception.

My only complaint is that the moon pies (and newly discovered by me – half moon pies) were just too delicious. Thanks to them and the banana split I had at the Creme Stop in McAlisterville, I went home heavy. But I hope to be back again next year.
