Thanks sent out to all who supported Night of Arts

To the editor:

I wanted to send out a public thank you to everyone who participated in the Mifflin County Middle School’s Night of the Arts. This project started out as a thank you to our visiting Artist in Residence, glass artist, Linda Billet.

Also to the Perry County Council of the Arts and the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts for funding and facilitating our 10-foot glass mosaic mural project for our students. The party took on a life of its own and became a celebration of all the various arts our talented students participate in.

We had a showcase of musical and dancing performers under the supervision of Ms. Fensterbush and Mr. Baylor. Mrs. Mowery and her ambitious student bakers baked 1,000 cookies for the event.

Ms. Confer currently and art substitute, jumped in and set up the entire art display. Mrs. Hackenburg organized the drinks donated from Barrett Enterprises/McDonald’s.

Thank you to the school district’s administration for recognizing the value of our residency and supporting it. The maintenance staff not only built the mural framework but transported the amazing food prepared by the talented CTC food prep classes under the supervision of Ms. Fohringer. We ate like kings and queens. The CTC students also served as wonderful mentors to the middle school helpers. The student council provided the funds for the majority of the delicious food.

And last but not least we would like to thank The Sentinel for such excellent coverage of our mural project.

It was such a success that we are already thinking of things to share with you next year. The support of the parents and guardians was wonderful. All children should have such a cheering section. Mifflin County truly supports our youth.

Thank you for believing in the value of the arts in our schools and our children’s talents. Be sure to join us next year.
