Mifflin woman says ‘bye’ with a tear to river bridge
To the editor:
I can’t begin to count the amount of times I have crossed the Juniata River via the Juniata River Bridge between Mifflin and Mifflintown. By foot or by vehicle.
The feelings I felt today when I looked at the part of the bridge that is down, after 57 years and three months give or take, were very real and very, very sad.
Today is the beginning of the end for that old thing. Mifflin is my town and the bridge is a very memorable part of my childhood. I am feeling very much those old lady feelings today I guess. A lot of you that read this will say, “what the Hades is wrong with her?” No, nothing is wrong with me. Just saying goodbye with a wave and a tear or two.
