Charges fewer guns mean more violence, victims

To the editor:

Has anyone read the Tax Code? All 6,000 pages and 500 million words. Has anyone read “Obamacare?” All 20,000 pages and 1.5 billion words?

Now, our “not so esteemed” members of Congress are drafting “gun control” legislation that will undoubtedly mirror past legislation in scope. It will be so complicated and so onerous that the average citizen will need to consult a lawyer every time he/she moves the firearm from the house to the car. The tax code, Obamacare and the firearm regulations seem to be designed to guarantee full employment for lawyers and accountants. I am sure Obama would cite this as part of his “jobs” program!

I have quipped that the Democrats are the party of “emotion” – logic and facts be d—-d! If you are following the “gun” debate you can see it at play in a big way. The real agenda is to disarm the public under the pretense of making them safe and to remove any possibility of armed resistance to a tyrannical government. The Second Amendment was created for the purpose of self defense and collective defense from criminals, foreign invaders and governmental tyranny. Free men are allergic to being subjugated.

Think on this: Based on survey data from a 2000 study published in the Journal of Quantitative Criminology, U.S. civilians use guns to defend themselves and others from crime at least 989,883 times per year. Fewer guns mean more crime, more victims, and more injured or dead innocents. The recent tragedies are a prime example of what happens when “emotions” result in “gun free” zones.
