Kid Connection gearing up for another big event
To the editor:
Well, it’s another year, and the preparations for Kid Connection 2013 have begun. Kid Connection is in its 31st year. It is an event enjoyed by thousands of members of the community.
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Candy Ciecierski and I have been involved in Kid Connection since 1999 when I was a volunteer. Then in 2000 I co-chaired the event, and in 2001, I became the chairperson for Kid Connection. I do it because I love it.
A lot goes into planning this yearly event. There are behind the scene preparations that need to be done each and every year to make this event happen. Each year the committee tries very hard to give the kids a bigger and better Kid Connection. From the entertainment to the activities at Kid Connection we try to make the day as fun filled as we can for the kids. Adults, we didn’t forget about you; Kid Connection gives the adults a chance to spend more time with their children and imagine how much closer you can grow together by spending time together.
I want to take this time to say a great big thank you to the Kid Connection Committee. It is a great committee and without them, Kid Connection wouldn’t happen. I cannot do it myself. Our great committee keeps this event going and the Lewistown tradition alive. We all do it because we enjoy doing it.
Kid Connection runs solely on donations. These donations come in forms of cash, time, and/or activities. Unfortunately, each year we seem to lose a couple of groups or businesses or organizations that donate to Kid Connection.
If you already support Kid Connection, I would like to say a great big thank you to you and ask you to continue this year. If you are not already on board, I encourage you to come and join in on the fun. It is a fun time for both the kids and adults who come and to those who sponsor booths.
We are always looking for committee members, so if you would like to become a part of the Kid Connection Committee, our next meeting for Kid Connection 2013 is 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 28 at the LUMINA Center on Third Street, Lewistown.
