Thanks offered for music program at high school

To the editor:

A big thank you to all the groups who participated Saturday evening, Dec. 8, for a Christmas and Seasonal Music concert held at the Mifflin County High School.

The Lewistown Community Band, under the direction of Peter Marsh, opened the evening’s program followed by St. John’s Lutheran Church Brass Quartet.

Mifflin County High School’s singing group, Cantare, under the direction of Sherry Morgan, then gave their presentation with voices blending beautifully and next to perform were Lewistown Community Band members with a horn trio with euphonium.

Art Belfiore then stepped forward and led the Mifflin County High School Saxophone Ensemble doing their presentation after which members of the Lewistown Community Band shared with a flute trio.

Mifflin County High School Brass Choir under the leadership of Art Belfiore appeared after which the Lewistown Community Band closed out the evening by playing Leroy Anderson’s favorite “Sleigh Ride.”

A free-will offering was taken to support the Music Department, both vocal and instrumental, at Mifflin County High School and more than $1,400 was received from a very appreciative and generous audience. Hoping this becomes an annual event.

Shared by one who loves music.
