Gun control won’t stop violence, tragedy

To the editor:

I beg to differ with Mr. Baker. There are several gun manufacturers that make bolt action rifles that have detachable clips, and extra clips are easy to obtain.

If you want to quibble about the number of kids, 20, 15, 10, that Lanza could have killed, the point is meaningless. Even one child murdered, or any person, is a tragedy. The whole point is no gun, knife, ball bat, hammer, screw driver, ever killed anyone without a bad guy using it. The gun in and of itself is just a tool. Banning guns of any type will not stop anything at all. It will just take them out of the hands of law abiding people. Criminals and those bent on destruction will find a way to do what they want to do.

As for your last point, You did not pay attention to the entire letter. The same mistakes someone else made. I hope they print my rebuttal to him soon. Some of the things I said in it also applies in this case. I even stated at the very beginning of my first letter that not all my remarks were directed to you.

All in all I think this is a good discussion to have and I hope it causes a lot of thought in many people.
