Asks for prayers for USA at March for Life event
To the editor:
As I write this we are nearing the start of 2013. And what did 2012 offer? Seven percent unemployment compared to 4.2 percent in 1960. Of course people say that 1960 was a good year for the United States. But was it a good year?
That unemployment year 1960 ushered in the “Swinging Sixties” – a time when lots of people had fun! Such fun as young people in the USA becoming hippies. Being a hippie was about rejecting traditional values and lifestyles. Many hippies (men and women) had long hair. Many hippies experimented with drugs and lived communally.
More and more women in the 1960s were being educated at universities and more were beginning careers. Women’s protest movements began in the 1960s asking for equal rights for women. And those equal rights have had abortion as part of those women’s rights.
According to Planned Parenthood those rights added up from 292 abortions in the United States in 1960 to 1,212,350 in 2008. Since our abortion/contraceptive society has been in effect 55 million preborn children have died since 1973, and women have had profound physical and emotional effects. Planned Parenthood statistics show 93 percent of all abortions occur for social reasons (i.e. the child is unwanted or inconvenient).
What is worse, the black community has had 13 million abortions, compared to only 2 million with heart disease. A whole generation of blacks has been eliminated.
CNN’s Black In America coverage states: “One in three black men will have a prison record in their lifetime. Sixty percent of black children are growing up without black fathers.”
Of course women should have equal rights in many things but aborting a baby is really taking away the rights of the unborn. It is discrimination and the exact thing women’s rights object to. Ask the aborted if they had equal rights.
The United States was founded on Christian-Judaic principles. Why not stick to those principles?
Alexis de Tocqueville spoke thusly about America in saying:
“The Americans combine the notions of Christianity and of liberty so intimately in their minds, that it is impossible to make them conceive the one without the other” and “the safeguard of morality is religion, and morality is the best security of law as well as the surest pledge of freedom.”
Unfortunately there are political forces in the United States who want to eliminate Christianity and liberty and violently disagree with de Tocqueville. They do not want God in their politics but they will kill innocent ones and allow an abomination of same sex supposed marriage. Apparently those forces reject history or they fall under the evil liar; de Tocqueville must turn in his grave.
“Those Judaic Christian beliefs say that man is endowed with a spiritual soul, with intellect and with free will, the human person is from his very conception ordered to God and destined for eternal beatitude. He pursues his perfection in ‘seeking and loving what is true and good.'” – Catholic Catechism.
