Marino has proven his worth to constituents
When it comes to hard-charging congressmen who aren’t afraid to tell it like it is, it’s hard to surpass U.S. Rep. Tom Marino, R-10th District.
A former county prosecutor and U.S. attorney, Marino is arguably one of the hardest working individuals on Capitol Hill. Now, as he seeks re-election to what would become his fourth term in office, The Sentinel offers our wholehearted endorsement for Marino to continue serving in the U.S. House of Representatives.
In addition to his seemingly tireless work ethic, Marino is by far one of the most outspoken members of Congress when it comes to the core issues that affect Pennsylvanians and, indeed, the whole country. He has been unwavering in his call for Congress to repeal the Affordable Care Act and replace it with a better system, particularly in light of the fact that beneficiaries of the ACA are now discovering they will see increases as high as 30-50 percent in their premiums and deductibles for 2017.
On national security, Marino has been at the head of efforts to better equip our military to combat terrorist groups abroad, as well as providing U.S. law enforcement with the necessary tools and flexibility to identify, stop and apprehend suspected terrorists on our own soil. He supports more assertive enforcement of immigration laws and remains opposed to allowing additional refugees from Syria and other countries into the U.S. due to the current difficulties in ensuring they are properly vetted before entering.
Marino also opposes excessive government regulations that stifle innovation and investment in U.S. companies, and he agrees with Republican Presidential Nominee Donald Trump that lowering the corporate tax rate is a critical step in ending the unprecedented flight of American jobs to other countries.
Tom Marino has shown himself to be a staunch advocate of doing what is right for the residents of the Juniata Valley, and we believe his work in Congress is born of a desire to truly serve his constituents and, by extension, all Americans.
For these reasons, we feel he deserves your vote on Nov. 8.
