Celebrate responsibly this weekend

For many folks in this area and around our country, Labor Day marks the unofficial end of summer as kids are already back to school and the local football season is upon us.

Labor Day usually provides one last chance to go to the swimming pool or state park or have a cookout with friends and family before really taking on the fall in earnest.

But as with any celebration, there are people who will take it too far and make poor decisions, most often fueled by alcohol.

We hope people do the right thing and avoid drinking and driving, but we also aren’t nieve enough to believe it won’t happen. We just hope lives aren’t lost due to the selfish decisions of a few.

We hope you enjoy your Labor Day – and the accompanying three-day weekend – safely and responsibly.
