Shutdown shows what really counts
How’s this for not keeping your priorities straight: If the so-called government shutdown continues, disability benefits for about 3.8 million military veterans will not be mailed out, Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki said last Wednesday.
One wonders whether those affected include any of the veterans President Barack Obama’s administration tried to keep from visiting the World War II Monument last week.
But even as the White House plans to hurt veterans to score political points, another arm of government enjoys full funding. There has been no slowdown in promotion of the new Obamacare system.
That tells Americans what the president considers important – and what he does not.
