Anewalt running for Lewistown Borough tax collector

LEWISTOWN – Erin Laub Anewalt will appear on the ballot as a Democratic candidate for Lewistown Borough Tax Collector on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

Anewalt ran on the Republican ticket in the primary and did not win, however she secured the Democratic nomination through write-in votes.

Anewalt said she was born and raised in Lewistown Borough and currently resides there with her husband and daughters. A lifelong resident of Mifflin County, she graduated with honors from Lewistown Area High School and earned her bachelor’s degree from Lock Haven University.

Anewalt was employed by Sheetz for eight years. She has spent the last five years as a case manager for Northwestern Human Services.

Anewalt said that in the13 years working in the community she has gained valuable experience that would help her in the office of tax collector.

“I currently maintain records that require a great deal of accuracy and I have to meet strict deadlines for billing purposes. I’ve also had experience dealing with deposits of large sums of money and providing courteous, helpful service to individual families and the general public,” she said. “I’m both qualified and hardworking, and will do what it takes to maximize revenue collection for the borough while continuing to provide the same helpful, courteous service to which the people of the borough have become accustomed.”

If elected, Anewalt said she will work full time as tax collector and plans to keep the tax collection office in Borough Hall. She also intends to expand office hours for taxpayer convenience.

Anewalt said she is asking people to cast their vote on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

“I would be grateful for your support at the polls on Election Day. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the people of Lewistown as tax collector,” she said.
