Help needed to ‘Shine’ again this holiday season

To the editor:

On behalf of the SLTD Committee, we would like to say thank you to everyone who helped in any way with this past year’s “Shining Light Through the Darkness.” There were more than 9,500 people who enjoyed the park during the Christmas season. We had approximately 450 volunteers give their time and talents for this wonderful community outreach event. Giving your time, your monetary gifts, your donated items and your prayers, are what keep “Shining Light Through the Darkness” growing each year.

The SLTD Committee extends a heartfelt thank you to the Derry Township Supervisors and the Derry Township employees for all your cooperation in this community event.

We greatly appreciate the churches, organizations, businesses, families, individuals and entertainment that participate. Without your help, “Shining Light Through the Darkness” would not be possible.

The SLTD Committee also extends a thank you to all who visit the park and take time from their hectic schedules to just be together with family and friends during the most holy Christmas season.

As this community event grows each year, we always need your help. The SLTD Committee works throughout the year to get ready for the coming year. If you would like to become involved in “Shining Light Through the Darkness,” please join us at our upcoming meeting on Aug. 19 at 6:30 p.m. p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Freedom Hall of United Methodist Church, Burnham. We gladly accept working lights and outside Christmas decorations. Should you be interested in giving a monetary donation, please mail it to Shining Light Through the Darkness, c/o Freedom Avenue UMC, P.O. Box 25, Burnham, PA 17009. If you would like us to make a presentation to our organization, please contact us at your convenience to schedule a date and time. Our SLTD phone number is 953-1686.

Again, thank you to one and all for this past year of success for “Shining Light Through the Darkness.”

Shining Light Through the Darkness Committee
