Richard D. ‘Dick’ Foltz

Richard D. “Dick” Foltz, 74, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Friday, May 31, 2019, at his home.

Richard was born in Mifflintown on Sept. 10, 1944, a son of Claire (Smith) Foltz, of Mifflintown, and the late Ray Foltz Sr. He graduated from Juniata Joint High School in 1963 and was a retired trooper from the Pennsylvania State Police (PSP). His PSP service began at Troop H in Harrisburg in 1968 until his retirement from the Newport Station in 2004. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1965-1967. Richard was a member of the former Fifth Street United Methodist Church, Harrisburg, the PA Fraternal Order of Police, Hampden Township Lions Club and the Liverpool VFW and was an active poll worker on election days in Hampden Township. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Sharon L. (Blanteno) Foltz., a daughter, Laurie, wife of Dave Hanich, of Newark, Del., three sons, Keith R. Foltz, his wife, Tracie, of Duncannon, Mick Blanteno, his wife, Angie, of York, Shawn C. Foltz, his wife, Kim, of Forest Hill, Md., grandchildren, Zander, Matt, Katie, Megan, Sydney and Taylor. Also surviving are two brothers, Ray “Frank” Foltz Jr., his wife, JoAnn, Ronald Foltz, his wife, Marjorie, both of Harrisburg, sister-in-law, Rhea Foltz, of Delaware and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, LeRoy Foltz. A commital service with military Honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Arrive at the cemetery prior to 2:15 p.m. Arrangements are entrusted to the Michael J. Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville.
