Mark Edward Ganoe

Mark Edward Ganoe, 70, of Lewistown Borough, went to be with His Lord and Savior at 10:34 a.m., Monday, May 20, 2019, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born April 17, 1949, in Williamsport, he was the son of the late Robert E. and Margaret (Rupert) Ganoe.

Mark is survived by: sons, Brian E. Ganoe, of York, and Kyle A. Ganoe and wife, Melyssa, of East Salem; Kyle and Melyssa’s daughter, Natalya; and his sister, Cathy J. Ganoe, of Millbrook, Michigan.

He was a graduate of Lewistown-Granville High School, Class of 1968, and a member of the 1966 and 1967 football teams. In his junior year, the team won the state championship.

He served in the Navy from 1968 to 1972.

Mark was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lewistown.

Early in life, he owned Ganoe Motors automotive dealership in Lewistown and several local car wash businesses. Later, he was employed as a truck driver for FedEx Corporation, from which he retired.

Mark loved his family and especially enjoyed racing with his son, Kyle. He owned many open wheeled cars, which were driven by some notable drivers. In later years, he remained connected to many of his friends in the racing community. Mark was also a life member of the Brooklyn Hose Company and a member of the Ocracoke Volunteer Fire Company in North Carolina.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, May 23, 2019, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 North Main Street, Lewistown.

A funeral service will begin at noon Friday, May 24, 2019, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dick Williams officiating.

Interment will take place at Juniata Memorial Park, with military honors provided by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
