Donald E. Knable

Donald E. Knable, 79, of 10 Wayne St., Newton Hamilton, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2019, at his home.

Born on May 20, 1939, in Newton Hamilton, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Bertha (Beatty) Knable. His wife, Nancy (McCartney) Knable, whom he married on Oct. 21, 1960, in Newton Hamilton, survives at their home.

Also surviving is his daughter, Cynthia Knable, of Newton Hamilton, and his daughter Sherri Brought, of Belleville, and Mark Brought, of Key West, Fla.

Grandchildren surviving are: Ashley Baker and companion Dennis Lane, Alex Boozel and wife Tiffany, Capt. Jordan Brought and wife Sarabeth, Garath Brought and companion Haley LeMay, Malachi Brought and Trace Brought.

Great-grandchildren are Aubrey, Kendall, Konnor, Carson, Jordyn, Kannon and Bowie.

Siblings surviving are: Robert Knable and wife Doris, of McVeytown, Barbara Anderson of Rothsville, and Harold Knable and wife Nancy of Newton Hamilton.

Mr. Knable was preceded in death by siblings: Florence Wilson, Charles Knable, Linda Keebler, Gloria Sunderland, and Lawrence Knable Jr.

Mr. Knable retired from Masland Industries, Lewistown, and was formerly employed by Harbison-Walker Refractories, Mount Union, for 17 years.

He graduated from Captain Jack High School, Class of 1957. He was a member of The Way Bible Church, McVeytown, and a lifetime member of the Newton-Wayne Volunteer Fire Co.

He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and enjoyed hunting, racing and mowing his lawn.

The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Pastor Jerry Wise officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Croghan Pike, Shirleysburg.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 until 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 14, and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, until the hour of the service.

A fireman’s memorial service will be held at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, May 14, at the funeral home.
