Wilbur R. ‘Bun’ Zendt

Wilbur R. “Bun” Zendt, 99, of Mifflintown, passed away Friday, April 12, 2019, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Born March 7, 1920, in Walker Township, he was a son of the late Howard and Sylvia (Lauver) Zendt. His wife, Kathryn (Cleck) Zendt, whom he married March 29, 1941, died on October 31, 2003.

He is survived by: three children, Cinda Lauver and husband, Larry, of Port Royal, William W. Zendt and wife, Leslie, of Houston, Pa., and Jan Lauver and husband, Joe, of Mifflintown; eight grandchildren; 14 great- grandchildren; and 1 great-great- grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.

A farmer all his life, he also trained and drove harness horses from 1949 until recently.

He was a member of Centre Lutheran Church and also attended Cedar Grove Brethren in Christ Church. He was a member of Walker Grange.

He enjoyed playing the keyboard, hunting, traveling, spending time with his family and drinking coffee with his friends at “the barn.”

His funeral will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at Cedar Grove Brethren In Christ Church, 287 Deerville Road, Mifflintown, with Rev. Kenneth Hepner and Rev. Mike Sigler officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.

Although there will be no viewing, the family will receive friends on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
