Betty J. Mattern

Betty J. Mattern, 87, of Beavertown, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at Rolling Hills Manor in Millmont.

She was born May 28, 1931, in Maitland, a daughter of the late William T. and Mary E. (Bridgens) Edmiston. On Oct. 22, 1950, she married Clark E. Mattern who survives.

Betty attended Lewistown area schools.

She was employed for 20 years at Kinney Shoe Factory.

Betty was an active member of Grace Reformed Church in Troxelville and always enjoyed her Sunday School Class number five.

In her spare time, she enjoyed making shoofly pies and baking and was always helping the area fire companies with making Easter eggs and helping with fish dinners.

Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sons and daughter-in-law, William M. and LaDawn Mattern and Michael T. and Diane Mattern; two daughters and son-in-law, Connie M. and Hubert Norman and companion Jessica Yost, Phillip Walter II, Tasha Troutman and husband Kyle Bennar and Brittney Bogar and husband Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Dawson Hain, Madison and Tanner Zimmerman, Tyler and Austin Norman and Everett Bogar, Arien and Dillon Kerstetter, Kimberly Smith, Annilee Yost; and two sisters, Dora Rigel and Faye Goss.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Corbin Edmiston; twin brothers in infancy; and four sisters, Louise Bishop, Evelyn Brininger, Mary Moore and Grace Edmiston.

Friends and family will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the Pheasant Funeral Home, 130 S. Zechman St., Beavertown, where the funeral will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dwight Rhine officiating.

Burial will follow in the Troxelville Union Cemetery.
