Brenda C. O’Neal

Brenda C. O’Neal, 68, of Mifflintown, passed away at 4:41 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, 2019, at the Geisinger Medical Center.

Born on Feb. 7, 1950, in Lewistown, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Cyrus M. Sr. and Doris E. (Potter) Hench. On Oct. 13, 1987, she married her surviving husband, soulmate and best friend, Donald E. O’Neal, with whom she was blessed to share more than 31 years of marriage.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her brother, Cyrus M. Hench Jr., of Mifflintown; nieces and nephews, Kimbra Boozel and her husband, Jerry, of Port Royal, Denny Powley Jr. and his wife, Missy, of Ellerbe, N.C., Angel Strohm and her husband, Mike Jr., of Thompsontown, Joshua Mefferd, of Mifflintown, Megan Brubaker and husband, Andy, of Newport, Nicole Leister, of Schnecksville, and Zachary Huff and his fiance, Sarah Johnson, of Mifflintown; great-nieces and nephews, Ethan Powley, Jeremy Boozel, Harlie Strohm and Mikey Strohm; a special great-nephew, Cameryn Huff; a great-great-niece, Evelyn Brubaker; and a great-great-nephew, Nolan Powley.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by: her beautiful daughter, Rhonda M. Casner; a sister, Jean E. Huff; her maternal grandparents, Ed and Alva (Wise) Potter; her paternal grandparents, Charles and Martha Hench; a grandniece, Cassandra J. Paden; and a sister-in-law, Melissa A. Hench.

In earlier life, she had been employed for 15 years by various local sewing factories before working for 20 years as a certified nursing assistant at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, until she became disabled in 2002.

Brenda was a 1968 graduate of Juniata High School and a member of the Heaven Bound Church, Mifflintown.

The joys of her life were spending time with her daughter, until she passed, and with her husband, whom she loved very much. She loved her church, which made her feel closer to God. However, her greatest joy came from spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at the Brown Funeral Homes Inc., 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Casey Hostler officiating. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday at the funeral home.
