Lois Genevieve ‘Jenny’ Davidson Bressler Lauver

Lois Genevieve “Jenny” (Davidson) Bressler Lauver, 82, of Mifflin, died on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at Locust Grove Retirement Village.

Born Dec. 21, 1935, in Mifflin Township, Cumberland County, she was a daughter of the late Frank C. and Gladys V. (Rife) Davidson.

She is survived by: her husband, William Alton “Red” Lauver, whom she married July 11, 1981; one daughter, Cathy Bressler, of King George, Va.; one son, Michael Bressler, of Albuquerque, N.M.; one grandson, Joshua Morris; one great-grandson, Garrett Morris; two sons-in-law, John Morris and David Canfield; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her first husband, Earl Bressler, in March of 1967; two daughters, Teresa Morris and Cindy Canfield; and one brother, Jay Davidson.

Jenny was a library assistant at Shippensburg University and she was later an aide for Head Start, where she loved working with the children.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Nook, where she was formerly very active on church council and altar guild and she was an ombudsman and as a Sunday school teacher. She visited older members of the congregation, as well as other friends, every week in their homes and in nursing homes.

She was a former member of the Mifflin-Juniata Area Agency on Aging Board of Directors.

She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, gardening, watching TV, traveling, cooking and watching birds, especially hummingbirds.

There will be a visitation from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown. The graveside service, with Rev. James Bricker officiating, and interment of the cremated remains in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
