James Lewis ‘Lew’ Wagner

James Lewis “Lew” Wagner Sr., 91, of Milroy, passed away Thursday evening, June 14, 2018, at William Penn Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewistown.

He was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Ligonier, a son of the late Herbert H. and Margaret E. (Emel) Wagner. His wife, Janice S. (Kenawell) Wagner, whom he married Dec. 3, 1954, survives.

Also surviving are: children, William J. Wagner and wife, Carol Ann, of White, Ga., Thomas H. Wagner and wife, Jackie, of Fayetteville, Virginia E. Porch and husband, Jim, of Mifflintown, Michael L. Wagner Sr. and wife, Melody, of Reedsville, Larry E. Wagner and wife, Michele, of Belleville, Pamela S. Bittner and husband, Shaun, of Milroy, and James L. Wagner Jr. and wife, Crystal, of Milroy; sister, Virginia Kramer and husband, Don Sr., of Olympia, Wash.; 12 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchil- dren.

He was preceded in death by: a brother, Samuel Ambrose Wagner; and an infant brother, Clifford Leroy Wagner.

He was a U. S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and served as fire warden for the Pennsylvania Forestry Department, from 1964-1966. He was an electrician at Standard Steel, Burnham. Lew was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Havice Valley. He was very friendly and outgoing. He was a strong advocate of the flag pole installation at William Penn. His wife and family were the love of his life.

A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 293 Havice Valley Road, Milroy, with Pastor Vicki Elmer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be made to St. Marks United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1, Milroy, PA 17063.
