Wayne E. Dressler Sr.

Wayne E. Dressler Sr., 79, of Thompsontown, began his walk with Jesus in heaven at 5:26 p.m. on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Bridges of Brookline, Mifflintown.

Born on Aug. 23, 1938, in Snyder County, he was a son of the late Herman G. and Cora Alice (Troup) Dressler. On April 17, 1960, in Richfield, he married his surviving wife, Shirley A. (Spade) Dressler, with whom he was blessed to share more than 58 years of marriage.

Mr. Dressler is survived by: his six children, Denise L. Hornberger and her fiance, Greg Hostetter, of Thompsontown, Wayne E. Dressler Jr. and his wife, Tracy, of Thompsontown, Debra A. Maneval and her husband, Rusty, of Richfield, Deanna K. Fawver and her husband, Adam “Duffy,” of Mount Pleasant Mills, Lori J. Apple and her husband, Bryan, of Thompsontown, and Lisa J. Symmerman and her husband, Chris, of Thompsontown; one sister, Irene L. Klock, of Bloomsburg; one sister- in-law, Arlene Frontz, of Thompsontown; 12 grand- children, Lacey O’Donnell, Leanna Hornberger, Blairann Dressler, Wayne William Dressler III, Andrew Maneval, Daniel Maneval, Eliana Maneval, Monica Maneval, Cortney Apple, Janelle Apple, Shirley Symmerman, and Evie Symmerman; and great- grandchildren, Syvilla O’Donnell, Julianna Campbell, Jackson Campbell and Lucy Maneval.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: one sister, Nancy Stroup; and one grandson, Zachary Maneval.

Wayne was a 1955 graduate of Middleburg High School and had attended Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Knousetown. Earlier in life, he was a Sunday school teacher and was active with the youth in the church and singing with the Mount Zion Trio.

Mr. Dressler was a self employed farmer and a former Dekalb Seed Dealer. He enjoyed farming, deer hunting, loved being on the family farm, but most of all, he enjoyed the time spent and shared with his family.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 23, 2018, at the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 1392 Dressler Ridge Road, Millerstown (Knousetown), with Rev. Kenneth Brown and Rev. Jerry Knouse officiating. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018, at the church, and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral services, Monday, at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wayne’s memory to the Mount Zion United Methodist Church, 1392 Dressler Ridge Road, Millerstown, PA 17062.
