Thomas Charles Bell

Thomas Charles Bell, 58, of Reedsville, passed away at 10:01 p.m., Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born Oct. 8, 1959, in Lewistown, he was the son of Charles “Charlie” and Margaret V. (Gerlock) Bell.

Tom is also survived by: his brother, John Bell, of Reedsville; and numerous aunts and uncles including, Betty Gerlock, who he remained in close contact with.

Tom was a 1977 graduate of Chief Logan High School. After high school, he received his bachelor’s degree from Millersville University in industrial arts education in 1981 and later a bachelor’s degree in computer programming from Edinboro University, with a minor in accounting.

Tom was a United States Olympic Wheelchair Ping-Pong team member, and competed in Stokes, England in the late 1980s. Tom was previously employed as a teacher at Indiana Junior High School and was the assistant coach for the varsity wrestling team. He later was employed by HRB as a computer programmer.

Earlier in life, Tom loved hunting and fishing. He was a member of The Knights of Columbus, where he was a 4th Degree Knight and Past Grand Knight, an avid stock investor, and a Philadelphia Phillies, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He absolutely loved supporting Penn State athletics as well. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

There will be a time of visitation with the family from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Friday, March 9, 2018, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
