Samuel E. Plank

Samuel was born on June 26, 1927, in Belleville, the son of the late Samuel E. and Corinne (Beiler) Plank. He married his wife, Vivian G. (Reed) Plank, on Feb. 17, 1950, who survives.

Samuel is survived by: a son, Scott E. Plank and wife, Deborah, of York; a daughter, Kimbra Jo Aumiller and Al Coudriet, of Belleville; Nathan C. Plank and wife, Pamela, of Huntingdon; 6 grandchildren; Aaron “Josh” Aumiller, Jereme S. Plank, Justin M. Plank, Jessica S. Plank, Michael Plank and Christopher Plank; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Samuel’s sister, Betty Stuter, of Bradenton, Fl., survives. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Samuel was preceded in death by a sister, Phyllis Fritz, and four brothers, John Plank, Warren Plank, William Plank and Don Plank.

Samuel was a veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He first worked at New Holland and then he was employed at the local post office as the rural mail carrier. He retired from the US Postal Service with 34 1/2 years of service.

He was a life member of VFW Post 5935, Belleville, where he served as Commander for a year. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Belleville, and a member of the stamp club. He enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, as well as bowling, doing wood working projects, fishing and traveling with his wife to the Marine Corps reunions.

A funeral service for Samuel will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Belleville, with Pastor Kenneth Longfield officiating. Burial will take place at St. John’s Cemetery following the service. His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville.
