LeRoy R. Black

LeRoy R. Black, 91, of Lewistown, passed away at 2 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2017, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home.

Born Oct. 14, 1926, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Russell and Sara (Harlan) Black.

LeRoy is survived by: his wife, Gayle (Cleck) Black; sister, Dorothy Berryman, of Lewistown; and nephews, Jack Berryman and wife, Elaine, of Washington, and Don Berryman and wife, Kathy, of Nevada.

He was enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during WWII.

LeRoy was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lewistown and a life member of the Brooklyn Fire Company. Earlier in life, LeRoy was employed by the American Viscose and the Mifflin County School District.

He was a skilled craftsman and could build or fix anything.

A funeral service in loving memory of LeRoy will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, 2017, at The Barr Funeral Home Inc. and Crematory, 120 Logan St., Lewistown with the Rev. Karen McCachren officiating. There will be a visitation from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Church Hill Cemetery.
