Virginia M. ‘Ginny’ Hampton

Virginia M. “Ginny” Hampton, 81, of Mifflintown, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017, at Locust Grove Retirement Village.

Born Oct. 25, 1935, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (Hess) Huff, but was raised by Pete and Alice Sausman, of Thompsontown.

She is survived by her husband, Don Kauffman; a daughter, Donna Boyden and husband, Andy; a son David C. Hampton Jr. and fiance, Patti Scott, all of Mifflintown; stepchildren, Deb Kirk, of Mifflin, and Randy Kauffman, of Mifflintown; grandchildren, David C. Hampton III and Dana Lynn Hampton; stepgrandchildren, Tammy Swartz and Randy Ronald Kauffman.; eight step great-grandchildren; two sisters; Patricia Aitkins, of McClure, and Rose “Sue” Lambert, of Runville, and a brother, Roy Mateer, of Milroy.

Her first husband, David Clair Hampton Sr., preceded her in death on July 6, 2004. Also preceding her in death were three brothers: Charles Huff, Russell Huff and Richard Huff and four sisters, Thelma Heyne, Frances Blose, Mary Galbreath and Dorothy Wolfkiel.

Virginia was a 1953 graduate of Thompsontown High School and worked at Juniata Garment, Mifflin, until her retirement in 2003.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 15, at Guss Funeral Home Inc., 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with Pastor Peg Rowe officiating. Interment will be in Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m., on Thursday, Sept. 14, at the funeral home.
