Judith Ann (O’Flynn) Sunderland

Judith Ann (O’Flynn) Sunderland rode gently into the waiting arms of Jesus at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, while sleeping peacefully at her home in McVeytown.

Judy, the eldest of eight children, was born Sept. 14, 1947, to Mark T. and Joann (Busenlechner) O’Flynn in Middletown, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: brothers, Michael and Mark P. O’Flynn; and sister, Mary Beth (O’Flynn) Nichols.

She is survived by: her husband of 17 years, Earl R. Sunderland; sisters, Margaret Pepper, Marilynn O’Flynn, both of Washington Court House, Ohio, Rosemary Wolfe, of Newark, Del.; brother, Timothy O’Flynn, of Lutz, Fla.; and in-laws, Joann O’Flynn, of Sandy Spring, Md., Orpha and Monte Kemmler, of Newton Hamilton, Diane and David McAlister and Barbara Clemmons, all of McVeytown.

Judy, with her first husband, Dennis Hinchee, now of Spruce creek, are the parents of and are survived by three daughters, Kelly S. (Hinchee) Watson and husband, Vaughn, of Petersburg, Kristy M. (Hinchee) Fitzgerald and husband, Scott, of State College, and Karen D. (Hinchee) Witherington and husband, George, of Hagerstown, Md.

When Judy and Earl were married on June 17, 2000, at their home in McVeytown, she gained an additional family that she grew to love. She is survived by her stepchildren, Amy Jo (Sunderland) Brumbaugh and husband, Jamie, Angela D. (Sunderland) Crisswell and husband, James, and Alan R. Sunderland and wife, Jennifer, all of McVeytown. One of the greatest joys of her life, was her: 19 grandchildren, Kirsten States, Nicholas, Ian, Isaac and Kassidy Watson, Sydney, Anthony and Alex Fitzgerald, Ryder, Rydge, Ryber and Raynger Witherington, Brittany and Morgan Brumbaugh, Kaydn and Patyn Crisswell, and Colton, Chloe and Carter Sunderland; and great-grandchil- dren, Bently and Bayah. She is also survived by many cousins, friends and former classmates in Middletown and Washington Court House, Ohio.

Judy loved following all of her grandchildren’s activities. She enjoyed traveling when possible and using Facebook to keep in touch with those near and far. She truly loved the sand and surf at Ocean City, Md., and vacationing at Orange Beach, Ala., with Karen and her family.

In addition, Judy was proud to be Irish through and through, wearing green the entire month of March was a must.

Always a devoted mother and wife, Judy worked many places during her lifetime. More recently for the Unitas National Bank and First National Bank in Huntingdon, Mount Union, Fort Granville and Lewistown, where she retired. She also worked at Bricktown Tax Service and served as a Wayne Township auditor.

Always a devout Catholic, she was an active member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Huntingdon. When Judy and Earl were married, they also attended Wayne United Methodist Church where they both enjoyed singing in the choir, usually singing in both churches every Sunday.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at Most Holy Trinity Church, Huntingdon, with Father Joseph Fleming officiating and Pastor Pat Bollinger assisting. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, 61 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, from 10 a.m. until the time of service Thursday, at the church.
