Donald L. ‘Poe’ James

Donald L. “Poe” James Jr., passed away at 1:25 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.

Born Sept. 28, 1956, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Donald L. James Sr. and Dolly (Reeder) James, who survives. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a sister, Karen Specht.

He is also survived by: his wife, Rose A. (Ressler) James, whom he married May 14, 1994; his children, Zachary A. James and companion, Cassandra Furman, of Lewistown, Cathie M. Grove and husband, Eugene, of McVeytown, and Christopher M. Krepps and companion, Angela Jones, of Granville; brother, Mark A. James and wife, Elizabeth, of Lewistown; granddaughter, Maria A. Grove, and a grandchild on the way.

Poe was a graduate of Lewistown High School, Class of 1974. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1981-1985 earning the Battle Efficiency Award, Sea Service Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Poe had worked at Philips and then as an assembler at Sound Technology.

He was a Methodist by faith.

Poe was a Steelers and Ohio State fan. He liked to go fishing and had a great love of music. Poe especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Sept. 25, 2017, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

Memorials in Donald’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
