Darlis J. Showalter

Darlis J. Showalter, 60, of 11508 Gun Smoke Lane, Mount Union, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at her home.

Born Nov. 18, 1956, in Allensville, she was the daughter of Anna (Byler) Hartzler, who survives in Mount Union, and the late George W. Hartzler, who preceded her in death on Jan. 19, 2016. On June 5, 1976, she married her husband, Terry D. Showalter, who survives at home.

In addition to her mother and husband, she is survived by: children, Teena K. Showalter, who lives at home, and Janette D. Sharp and husband, Jason, of Belleville; granddaughter, Whitney J. Sharp, of Belleville; siblings, Louise A. Byler and husband, Daniel, of Allensville, and Ray Hartzler and wife, Fran, of Lewistown; and stepmother-in-law, Dorcas Showalter, of Chambersburg.

Darlis was a 1974 graduate of Belleville Mennonite School. She was primarily a homemaker and enjoyed cooking and baking for other people. She had a small catering business which she operated from her home for two years. She also enjoyed spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens.

She was a member of the Allensville Mennonite Church, the Hearts and Hands Sunday school class and the Ladies Sewing Circle at the church.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at Allensville Mennonite Church with Pastors Sherman Stoltzfus and Bob Zook officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Allensville Mennonite Cemetery. Her family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church.
