Frankie J. Hernandez, 64, of Lewistown, passed away at 10:52 a.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Born Oct. 1, 1952, in New York City, he was a son of the late Francisco and Romana (Crespo) Hernandez.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Ada Hernandez.

Frankie is survived by: his wife, Ana Delia (Andujar) Hernandez; children, Mariarena, Jose and Daniela Hernandez, all of Copperas Cove, Texas, Jonathan Hernandez and wife, Natalie, of Lewistown, Anthony and Veronica, both of Pennsylvania; 10 grandchildren, Alberto, Fabiola, Sarai, Michael, Alex, Dayna, Kobe, Jacyely, Malachi and Silas; a great-granddaughter, Scarlet; and siblings, Frances Hernandez, of Orlando, Fla., Angie Hernandez, of Brooklyn, N.Y., Lourdes Hernandez, of Puerto Rico, Diana Toro, of Orlando, Frank Hernandez Jr. and wife, Edna, of Puerto Rico, and Rigoberto Toro Jr. and wife, Brenda, of the Bronx, N.Y.

Frankie was a career Army veteran, retiring with over 20 years of service.

He later was employed by Lewistown Borough and the Juniata Valley YMCA, and as an intermittent translator for Mifflin County.

He most recently attended the New Life Church of God.

Frankie was a family man and a jokester, and loved people. He was a grease monkey at heart and enjoyed tinkering with automobiles.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 2, at Heller-Hoenstine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Michael Bailey officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 1, at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, with full military honors.

Memorial contributions in Frankie’s memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
