Jack Porter Hall

Jack Porter Hall, 79, of Thompsontown, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin.

Jack was born in Wormleysburg on Jan. 15, 1938, a son of the late Helen A. (Rockwell) Hall and Leslie C. Hall Sr. He was the owner/operator of Hall’s Garage, Thompsontown. Jack made all of the cookies and cakes for Hall’s Confectionery, McAlisterville. He also operated Hall’s Concession Stand, where he was known for Jack’s Juniata Cheese- steaks.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. A member of the Higher Ground Church of Juniata County, he was active in the fire police for the Fayette Township and Delaware Township fire companies.

Surviving is his wife, Raylin Jean (Graybill) Hall; a daughter, Jean M., wife of James Miller, of Thompsontown; and two brothers, David A. Hall Sr., his wife, Joyce, of Marysville, and Leslie C. Hall Jr., his wife, Mary, of Camp Hill. Also, his grandchildren, Anna Miller, Jessie Miller, Uriah Miller and Justin Laidacker.

Jack was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Ann Hollen Hall; a daughter, Julie A. Laidacker; and two sisters, Caroline I. Watson and Gloria H. Luckenbaugh.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017, at the Michael J. Shalonis Funeral Home, Marysville, with his niece, the Rev. Dr. Deborah E. Watson, officiating. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, both at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rolling Green Memorial Park, Camp Hill.
