Betty Jane Marrone, 85, formerly of Lewistown, died at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2017, at her home in Riverview, Fla.

Born Feb. 16, 1931, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Margaret (Chapple) and Stanford S. Custer.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Paul J. Marrone, on Oct. 6, 1992; a brother, Stanford Custer; and two sisters, Eleanor Cramer and Jean Hayes.

Betty is survived by: her children, Michael Paul Marrone and wife, Susan, of Burke, Va., and KellyLee Margaret Marrone, of Riverview, Fla.; grandchildren, Nicholas John Marrone and wife, Katie, Tyler Ross Marrone, and Kacey Paula Boegler; great- grandson, Luca Paul Marrone; siblings, Clara Mae Benner and husband, Donald, Lois Graff and husband, Robert, of Dauphin, Paul Custer, of Harrisburg, Donald Custer and wife, Jane, of McAlisterville, Beverly Sealover, of Mifflin; and sister-in-law, Mary Custer.

Betty was a loving and dedicated mother and grandmother.  Her children and grandchildren were her life.  She also dearly loved her family and her “Golden Girls,” Dolly, Janie and Shirley.

Early in life, she worked as a production employee at the Arrow Shirt Factory, American Viscose Corporation and KB-Aerotech.

Betty was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lewistown until moving to Florida six years ago. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and former member of the Mifflin County Garden Club. Betty won many awards and blue ribbons for her floral skills and was also well known for her holiday decorating skills.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 28, at Juniata Memorial Park, followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Richard Bender officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
