Roy L. Smith

Roy L. Smith, 85, of Milroy, passed away Friday evening, Nov. 25, 2016, at Mount Nittany Medical Center.

He was born March 24, 1931, in Belleville. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nellie Thomas; stepfather, Frank Thomas; a daughter, Valerie Wagner; granddaughter, Julie Earnest; and a sister, Nancy Gill. His wife of 57 years, Estella M. Smith, survives.

Also surviving are children, Vicki Earnest and husband, Ronald, of Hurricane, W.Va., Linda Decker and companion, John Johnson, of State College, Kathy Glasgow and companion, James Swanger, of Yeagertown, Steven Summers and wife, Holly, of State College, Doug Summers and wife, Roxie, of Milroy; grandchildren, Michael Earnest, Tori Bohn, Samantha Gates, Christina Swisher, Jennifer Glasgow, Angela Bowersox, Aaron Glasgow, Erica Guthridge, Danielle Perry, Brandon Summers, Skye Hepburn, Dane Summers; great-grandchildren, Ellie Earnest, Gwen Earnest, Autumn Treaster, Sky Treaster, Willow Treaster, Ashlyn Treaster, Joshua Gates, Erica Swisher, Mick Lee Hockenberry, Sara Tressler, Thomas Boaz, Emma Swanger, Mason Swanger, Autumn Glasgow, Hudson Hepburn; brother, Robert Glick; and a sister, Patty Buckley.

He had worked at Wolmersdorf Trucking, Penn Fuel Gas, York County Gas and retired from Columbia Gas, State College, and Quick Courier Service of State College. Roy was owner and operator of Towne Lanes Bowling Center, Third Street, Lewistown, for 20 years. Roy and his wife, Estella, were coaches of the Junior Bowling Program at Bellefonte Lanes.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, past president of the Seven Mountains Bowling Association and was an inductee into the Seven Mountains Hall of Fame, and a Director of the Pa. State Bowling Association. He loved God, family, life and always enjoyed travel with his wife and friends. He had great love for the Smokey Mountains, which was his favorite place to be.

There will be a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the Assembly of God Church, Lewistown, with Pastors Dennis Sproull and Karen McCachren officiating. Interment will follow in Lind Memorial, Lewistown. Family will receive friends for a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the church.
