Mary E. Pallo
Mary E. Pallo, 82, of Lewistown, passed away at 8:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, at her home after a short battle with cancer.
Born Sept. 8, 1934, in Beech Creek, Clinton County, she was a daughter of the late Nancy (Schenck) and Albert B. Coder.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward L. Pallo, on May 31, 2009; her brother, Paul Coder; and four sisters, May Pletcher, Lucy Kyle, Rebecca Metz and Jeannette Klein.
She is survived by: a daughter, Deborah K. Pallo, of Lewistown; a sister, Rachel Yarnell, of Pleasant Gap; brother-in-law, Bertram Klein, of Wisconsin; sister-in-law, Patricia Ellis, of York; a niece, Ruth Brewer and her husband, David, of Lightstreet, who Mary grew up with; and other nieces and nephews.
Mary was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church.
She graduated from Bellefonte High School and received her B.S. degree from Lock Haven State Teacher’s College.
She taught health and physical education at Jersey Shore and for the Mifflin County School District for 23 and a half years, primarily at Lewistown High School, where she was also a cheerleader adviser.
She was a member of the Mifflin County Retired Educators Association.
Mary loved to quilt, crochet and work outside in her garden. She enjoyed baking cookies and sharing them with all her neighbors and friends. She will be missed by her cats, Patches, Paj, Winston and her daily canine companion, Nikki.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 26, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating.
A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, at Heller-Hoen- stine Funeral Homes, Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown.
Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
