John W. Zeigler
John W. Zeigler, 89, of Milroy, passed away Thursday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2016, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.
He was born in Reedsville, a son of the late George Robert and Maria (Oberholtzer) Zeigler. His wife, Betty M. (Traxler) Zeigler, preceded him in death on April 6, 2008.
Surviving are children, Curtis W. Zeigler, of Milroy, Christine Pendleton, of Philadelphia, and Joseph W. Zeigler, of Michigan; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a companion, Anne Smith, of Reedsville.
He was the last of 11 boys, having been preceded in death by brothers: George Louis, Ned. A., Robert S., Paul R., Ray Kenneth, Charles Glen, Richard D., Fred Eugene, James H. and his twin brother, Alvin Lee Zeigler. He was also preceded in death by a son, John W. Zeigler Jr., in 1971.
He retired from Ford New Holland, Belleville. John was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict where he received two Purple Heart medals. He was a member of the East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, Reedsville.
There will be a funeral service at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13, 2016, at East Kishacoquillas Presbyterian Church, 100 Walnut St., Reedsville, with the Rev. Pat Rolls officiating. Family will receive friends for a viewing from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at the church. Interment will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy.
