Clarence M. Boonie

Clarence M. Boonie, 81, of Grand Street, Middle- burg, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born Dec. 25, 1934, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, a son of the late David Christian and Dora Hassinger Boonie. On Dec. 24, 1954, he married the former Shirley M. Knepp, who survives. Clarence attended McClure High School.

He had earlier been employed at Beaver Bakery in Burnham, Young Disposal and Becker Motors. For 43 years, he operated Boonie’s Garage in Middleburg until his retirement in 2014.

Clarence attended the Port Ann Wesleyan Church. He enjoyed hunting, camping and working at his garage, but the greatest joys in his life were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 61 years, is a daughter and son-in-law, Debra K. and Jerry Boyer, of Kreamer; three sons and daughters-in-law, Ricky A. and Cynthia Boonie, of Paxtonville, Steven M. and Wendy Boonie, of Middleburg, and Terry L. and Melissa Boonie, of Kreamer; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Melissa and Barry Hauck, Jerry Jr. and Beth Boyer, Ryan, Tyler, Christopher, Robin, Kyle, David and Heather Boonie and her companion, Todd Hummel; five great-grandchildren, Julia, Joshua, Jaden, Brinley and Madelyn; four sisters, Mary Schreiber, of Mechanicsburg, Betty Heintzelman, of New Columbia, Velma Heister, of Granville, and Ruth Clouser, of Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Violet, and a brother, David, in infancy.

Friends and family will be received from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 7, at Port Ann Wesleyan Church, where the funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, with his pastor the Rev. Paul Sheets officiating.

Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery, Middleburg.
