Calvin M. Ferencz

Calvin M. Ferencz

Calvin M. Ferencz’s pain and suffering ended on Nov. 21, 2016, at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital with his family by his side. He spent the evening prior with his lifelong friend, Stu Harris, taking a trip down memory lane in good spirit.

He will be missed for his free spirit, crazy antics and lust for life.

Born Feb. 18, 1951, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Betty (Eby) and Pete A. Ferencz.

He is survived by his siblings: Teresa Spigelmyer and husband, Daniel, of Lewistown, and Mary McCartney and husband, Timothy, of Mechanicsburg. Also surviving are his nieces, Haley Dill and husband, Cody, Hannah Spigelmyer and companion, Nick Wilt, and Lauren and Leah McCartney. His nieces were his pride and joy!

Calvin was a 1969 graduate of Lewistown Area High School. After graduation, he spent most of his adult life in Florida. He was a member of the Yeagertown Firehouse, Fraternal Order of Eagles, in Burnham and The Milroy American Legion Post 287.

He loved to gamble and take frequent trips to Atlantic City. His love for the outdoors took him on many camping trips.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, at Barr Funeral Home Inc., 120 Logan St., with the Rev. John Walters officiating.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until the time of service.

Calvin always walked to the beat of his own drum and lived life on his own terms. In life, material possessions were not important to him and he was a brother to everyone.

At the request of Calvin, please don’t weep. Go out and celebrate his life.
