Ronald R. Griffith
Ronald R. Griffith, 83, of 74 Maple Grove Road, Belleville, was carried to heaven in the arms of Jesus at 4:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016. Born Oct. 27, 1932, in Belleville, he was the son of the late James F. and Beatrice E. (Stuter) Griffith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two younger brothers, Joseph C. Griffith and James F. Griffith Jr. He is survived by Carol Lou (McBride) Griffith, his loving wife of 60 years.
Ron is also survived by four children: Rhonda L. Reeder and husband, David, of Greencastle, Douglas R. Griffith and wife, Lisa, of Winter Garden, Fla., Michael E. Griffith and wife, Janis, of Fayetteville, and Julie A. Mochan and husband, Damian, of State College; nine grandchildren, Laura Stepanick and husband, Evan, Julian Lopatic, Araelia Lopatic, Sophia Mochan, Stellan Mochan, Holly Baerenwald and husband, Ross, Abigail Arthurs and husband, Cody, Olivia Griffith and Natalie Griffith; two stepgrandchildren, Tyson Baker and wife, Shannon, and Ryland Baker; two stepgreat-grandchildren, Mckinnah Baker and Tyson Baker; a brother, Jack R. Griffith, of Belleville; a sister, Margaret Marrone and husband, Ron, of Lewistown; a sister-in-law, Maria Griffith, of Reedsville; and a number of special nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was a 1950 graduate of Belleville High School. He then served in the United States Army from 1950 to 1953 during the Korean Conflict. He retired in 1988 from Letterkenny Army Depot with 29 years of service. He was also employed for 30 years by the Pennsylvania Game Commission as a deputy game warden in Franklin and Mifflin counties. After his retirement from Letterkenny, he attended and graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Regional Police Training Academy and became a police officer in Mercersburg for six years.
Ron attended Rockville Fellowship Church. He enjoyed fly fishing and hunting (especially for turkeys). He was an avid reader and enjoyed studying the Bible. He was a tireless witness for Christ and took much joy in meeting new people and sharing his faith.
His family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at Rockville Fellowship Church with Pastor Harold Sharp officiating. Friends will also be received at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Belleville, immediately following the service.
