Karen J. Johnson

Karen J. Johnson, 61, of Lewistown, passed away peacefully at home after an extended illness at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016.

Born March 31, 1955, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Jane L. (Lash) and Robert L. Seager Sr.

She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband, Michael J. Johnson, whom she married on July 2, 1995; three children together; and six grandchildren, all of Lewistown; her brother, Robert L. Seager Jr. and wife, Janice, of Belleville; and two nephews.

Karen was a 1973 graduate of Penn Highlands High School, Lewistown campus, and a 1986 graduate of Thompson Institute. She was attending Penn State World Campus, majoring in business administration.

Earlier in life, she had worked as a purchasing agent in the automotive carpet department at Masland  Carpets  and Lear Corporation, later, Kardex Manufacturing and lastly, at Ames True Temper.

She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lewistown.

Karen was a great cook. With her husband, Michael, by her side, they loved to spoil their family and friends by cooking and providing entertainment. She was an avid animal lover, especially Dobermans and black cats. She loved good books. Her favorite authors were:  Bill O’Reilly, Stephen King and James Patterson. Karen also loved classic rock ‘n’ roll.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, at Heller- Hoenstine Funeral Homes Inc., Woodlawn, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Pastor Jeannine Berube officiating.

A receiving of family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown, at the convenience of the family at a later date.
