James R. Foust
James R. Foust, 88, of 344 Old 22 Road, McVeytown, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2015, at his home.
He was born May 3, 1927, in Oliver Township, Mifflin County, the son of the late Robert Roy and Rosa Ethel (Kimberly) Foust.
He was united in marriage to Elsie M. (Jenkins) Foust on July 22, 1950, in Reedsville. She preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2004.
He is survived by: his daughter, Nancy Foust Wertz, of McVeytown; granddaughter, Tammy Wertz, of McVeytown; and one brother, Robert L. Foust and wife, Helen, of Ferguson Valley Road, Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by: siblings, Wilbur K. Foust, Marshall R. Foust, Phyllis J. Harshbarger, Melba James, Lester A. Foust, Fay Buchanan, and Ruth Foust.
Mr. Foust served overseas in the U.S. Marine Corps during both WWII and the Korean War.
He owned and operated a John Deere dealership in Shirleysburg and McVeytown. He was also a milk hauler for Sunnydale and Dairy Lea cooperatives. From 1966 till 2011, he worked as a U.S. Postal contractor for delivering mail. He spent his entire life farming.
Mr. Foust enjoyed hunting and caring for his pets.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with Minister Darwin Breon officiating. Interment will be in the Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
