Mahlon E. ‘Gene’ Seitz

Mahlon E. “Gene” Seitz, 86, of 235 Hartzler Drive, Belleville, died at 12:42 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2014 at Valley View Haven.

Born July 3, 1928, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Paul and Thelma (Johns) Seitz. His wife, Mary Ann (Peoples) Seitz, whom he married on Jan. 8, 1972, survives at their home.

Surviving are: his children, Gene Seitz Jr., of Lock Haven, Thomas A. Seitz and wife, Diane, of Lewistown, Rob Seitz and wife, D.J., of Lewistown, and Michael T. Seitz and wife, Tracie, of Beaver Springs; six grandchildren, Tracy Jo Seitz, Mandy Seitz, Becky Seaholtz and husband, Nicholas, Chrisy Seitz, Bobbie Seitz and Jaden Seitz; three great-grandchildren, Sierra Seitz, Trenton Seitz and Lilly Seaholtz; a great-great-granddaughter, Leah Seitz; a sister, Celesta Youtzy, of Milroy; a half brother, Lee Gahagan and wife, Jane, of Burnham; and a half sister, Judy Bollinger and husband, Doug, of Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul B Seitz, and a sister, Marlene Stewart.

Gene retired in 1990 from Standard Steel with 42 years of service. While working at Standard Steel, he operated a farm and bought and sold horses. After his retirement, he enjoyed working with his mules and attending horse sales.

He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local No. 1940 in Lewistown.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, at Henderson Funeral Home, Belleville. After the viewing, Pastors Doug Pierce and Gerald Peachey will officiate a short prayer service.
