Dolores J. Knepp

Dolores J. Knepp, 73, of W. Specht St., passed away unexpectedly at 2:35 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014, at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Dolores was born on March 17, 1941, in Port Ann, a daughter of the late J. Gardner and Pauline (Aurand) Moyer. On March 14, 1964, she married Dennis D. Knepp who survives.

She is survived in addition to her husband by one daughter, Wendy S. Eby of McClure; one son and daughter in law, James H. and Amanda Knepp of Charlotte, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Olivia, Alex, Jay and Rachael; two brothers and sisters in law, J. Galen and Julia Moyer of Mifflinburg and Donald and Dawn Moyer of Lewisburg; two sisters in law, Joan Moyer of Middleburg and Phyllis Moyer of Penns Creek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Dolores was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Moyer and J. Edward Moyer.

She graduated from West Snyder High School in 1959 and graduated from Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing in Philadelphia in 1962.

She had previously been employed as a Registered Nurse at the Atlantic City Hospital, Lewistown Hospital and later worked at the Selinsgrove Center for more than 30 years until her retirement.

Dolores was an active member of Mount Bethel Church, in McClure, where she served on the visitation committee, was a member of the Pollyanna Guild and taught Sunday school. She served as the Vice President of the McClure Revitalization Committee, was the secretary of the McClure Women’s Club, a member of the Red Hat Society, the Beaver Springs Ladies Prayer Group and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

Dolores loved spending time with her grandchildren, her family, and her friends. She also loved working in her garden and flower beds, helping with the church, and always kept herself busy with various projects as the need would arise. Her dedication to her family, church, and community will be greatly missed.

A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at Mount Bethel Church, in McClure, where a memorial service will follow at 8 p.m. with Pastor Donald Wise officiating.

Burial will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are by the Pheasant Funeral Home, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.
