Ruth E. Long
LEWISTOWN – Ruth E. Long, 83, of Lewistown, went to be with her Lord and Savior at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Ohesson Manor.
Born Jan. 6, 1931, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Anna (Johnson) Peace.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph W. Long, with whom she celebrated 61 years of marriage on June 25, 2014.
Ruth is survived by: her children, Joseph M. Long and his wife, Glenda, of Bellefonte, Joyce A. King, of Lewistown, Deana S. Kauffman and her husband, Jeffery, of Strasburg, Va., and Daniel L. Long and his wife, Dee, of Lewistown; grandchildren, Ryan Kauffman, Andrea Fank and husband, Joshua, Ally Kauffman, Nathan Koontz, Stephany King and Stephen King; her brother, Clifford Peace, of Lewistown; and her sister, Doris Whitsel and husband, Kermit, of Lewistown.
She was preceded in death by: a son-in-law, Douglas King; her brothers, Wesley and Ray Peace and an infant brother, Clyde Peace.
She was a 1949 graduate of Lewistown High School.
Earlier in life, she was an Avon Representative and was then employed as an office clerk at Lewistown Bottling (Pepsi).
She was a member of the Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where she was an organist and pianist for more than 50 years and was a past deaconess of the church.
Ruth loved crocheting, making pouting dolls, jigsaw puzzles and Penn State Football. She most enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 5, 2014, at the Lewistown Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, with the Rev. John Looney officiating.
Her family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, at the church.
Private interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
