Jeanne P. Crawford

MIFFLIN – Jeanne P. Crawford, 88, formerly of Port Royal, died at 4:02 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014, at Locust Grove Village, Mifflin.

Born Feb. 2, 1926, in Santa Ana, Calif., she was the daughter of the late Arthur Burkette Perkins and Marjorie Stella (Foster) Perkins. On March 8, 1947, she married her late husband, Captain Robert E. Crawford, USN (ret.), with whom she shared more than 56 years of marriage, until he preceded her in death on Dec. 20, 2003.

Surviving are the following nephews, and niece: Michael Craven and his wife, Mary, of San Diego, Calif., Mark Craven and his wife, Sandy, of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Matthew Craven and his wife, Dawn, of Lake Elsinore, Calif., William Manbeck, Sarah Leeper and her husband, Scott, Steven Manbeck and his wife, Janice, all of Mifflintown; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Lee Craven.

Jeanne was a 1943 graduate of Laguna Beach High School, after which she attended college.

Jeanne was a naval wife for her married life, before retiring with her husband to Port Royal in January 1975.

She attended Port Royal Presbyterian Church and Faith Bible Church of Port Royal. Jeanne also engaged in many activities, including being a volunteer for the Juniata County Library.

Jeanne was a child of southern California who spent most of her life with the sea in her and her husband’s blood. When she and Bob moved to his hometown, Port Royal, she grew to love the Juniata Valley also, having many friends and activities in the local area.

As she had requested, no service will be conducted locally. Jeanne is returning to the Pacific Ocean where she and her beloved husband, Bob, will be reunited.
