Albert Thomas Battista
BURNHAM – Albert Thomas Battista, 74, of Burnham, died at 6:51 p.m. Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital emergency room.
Born June 25, 1940, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Anthony and Augustina (Materia) Battista.
Albert is survived by: his sister, Marie Guerrini, of Lewistown; a nephew, Delmer Guerrini, and wife Roseann; a great- nephew/niece Steven and Christine; a niece, Debra Guerrini; a nephew, Frank Guerrini and wife, Sue; a nephew, Joseph (Tuny) Guerrini; brother, Michael Battista, and wife, Marion, of Mechanicsburg, and nephews, Michael and Matthew; a sister-in-law, Mary Battista and nephews, Gregory, Mark and wife, Marion; a sister-in-law, Jean Battista; niece Mona Yetter and husband, Randy; a niece, Lisa Warner and husband, Dan; a nephew, Todd Battista and wife, Karen; and his companion, Cheryl Thomas.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Louis, Frank and Anthony Battista.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and retired from U.P.S. after 35 years of employment.
He was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Lewistown, Lewistown Country Club, Lewistown Moose Family Center and the Burnham Fire Co.
Albert was an avid golfer and loved going to the Port Royal Races. He was a constant driver for his nephew Del’s car business and he worked on the maintenance committee for Sacred Heart Church.
He was a great friend and help to many people in the area and was a caregiver for his mother for many years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, July 28, 2014, at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, with Father William Weary officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park with graveside military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 7011, Lewistown.
His family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, at Heller-Hoen- stine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Albert’s memory can be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 9 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044.
