Phyllis G. (Drewett) Clinger

DANVILLE – Phyllis G. (Drewett) Clinger, born July 23, 1926, passed away June 21, 2014, at Geisinger Hospital, Danville.

Phyllis was preceded in death by: her parents, Ralph Drewett and Edith L. (Snyder) Drewett- Grassmyer; her husband, Paul D. Clinger, in 1984; and a sister, Edda E. Grassmyer Vergara, in 2002.

She is survived by: a sister, Jacquelyn D. Grassmyer Fisher, of Lewistown; nieces, Launa V. Fisher Snyder (Jim Kreitzer), of Camp Hill, E. Christina Vergara (Timm) Andrews, of Tampa, Fla.; a nephew, Mark A. (Joanne) Vergara, of Buffalo, N.Y.; great- nieces, Jennifer D. (Donald) Snyder Boyer, of Camp Hill, Sarah J. Snyder (Keith Harbor), of San Francisco, Calif.; a great-nephew, Matthew A. Snyder (Lorin Gingrich), of Enola; great-great-nieces, Rachael L. Snyder and Emily L. Snyder; and great-great- nephews, Zachary Boyer, Jacob Vergara and Andrew Vergara.

She was a graduate of Lewistown High School and Central Penn Business School.

Phyllis was a claims examiner, retiring from the Bureau of Employment Security at the Lewistown office.

Phyllis, known as “Jerry” or “Aunt Dee Dee” loved gardening, flowers, oil painting, other art work and quilting. She was a long standing member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, Highland Park, having taught adult Sunday school for 25 years.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, 2014, at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas Morningstar officiating.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 26, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 27, at the funeral home.

Interment will take place in Juniata Memorial Park.
